Lectern Hangings

Lectern hangings, sometimes called church paraments or altar cloths, are decorative cloth panels that cover the front of the lectern, pulpit or altar. Lectern hangings are often highly decorative and may be color-coordinated to match the liturgical season. Purple lectern hangings are most commonly used during advent while Christmas and Easter call for white. During Lent, purple is the color of choice once again. The Pentecost calls for a red cloth while the rest of the year is typically represented by a green lectern hanging. Special events such as weddings, baptisms and christenings may call for special designs as well.
