Kneelers / Prie Dieus

Prie dieu is French for pray to God and its purpose is defined within its name. A prie dieu kneeler is primarily used for private devotional use, but is also commonly found in churches for the faithful to use while praying, confessing or partaking in a ceremony. Traditional styles of prayer kneelers include thin, sloping shelves on the top for books or hands and a padded kneeler. Other styles include a padded arm rest in lieu of the sloped shelf. The version with the padded arm rest is useful for devotions such as the Rosary that do not require the use of a book. Though most prie dieux are designed for single users, those made for wedding ceremonies have space for 2 individuals. During the ceremony, the bride and groom kneel on the prie dieu together.
