Deacon Stoles

Deacon stoles are a type of specific liturgical vestment that is used in various Christian denominations. It consists of a band that is several feet long and 3 to 4 inches wide. The ends of the piece may be broad cut or straight. The deacon stole is worn slightly differently depending on the religion, but most position the deacon stole over the left shoulder as opposed to a regular stole which is draped around the neck. The stole is almost always decorated in some way, often with religious symbols or ornate embroidered designs. Contrasting trim and fringe are common decorative elements found in stoles of all varieties. They are available in several liturgical colors including white, green and purple. Many deacon stoles also include a small connection point that allows the ends of the garment to be easily attached below the right arm or in another manner consistent with the religion.
