"Small Tassilo" Chalice & Dish Paten

The original Tassilo design was commissioned in the eighth century for use at the wedding of Duke Tassilo of Bavaria to the daughter of the Lombardian King. It is best-known for its unique shape which includes a cup that is larger and wider than the base. The chalice also includes a gold-plated filigree design and several gemstone accents.
