Baptismal

The stole is a liturgical vestment used in various denominations of Christianity. It consists of a broad band of cloth that is about seven to nine feet long and three to four inches wide. The ends of the stole may be strait or broad cut. The garment is designed to rest around the beck of the wearer with the two ends hanging down parallel to each other in the front. The ends may fasten in the front or they may hang loose. For baptisms, a special type of stole is worn, distinguished by its decoration and color. Baptism stoles are often white. They are typically decorated with water symbols that are associated with baptisms. Shells are another common symbol found on the garments.
