Saint Anthony was a priest and friar of the Franciscan Order. He was born into a wealthy family and was known for his forceful preaching and great knowledge of scripture. He was canonized less than a year following his death and is the patron saint of finding things or lost people. It is said that he died from ergotism, a disease also known as Saint Anthony's Fire. Legends report that he spent some time living in a small cell under a tree and that his remains are buried in the small church of Santa Maria Mater Domini.
